Wedding Gown Transformation

This is a project I worked on with a client to transform her mother's wedding gown into a rehearsal dinner dress and a robe to get ready in on her wedding day. The dress was recreated from the body of the original gown and altered for fit and design purposes. I removed the sleeves and created a clean finished armhole, altered the fit on the side seams, princess seams, and center back. I also added a slit and hand sewed the lace trim to the hem. ​ The robe is my design that I sketched, patterned, and cut from the detachable train on the original wedding gown. I incorporated the existing lace details, created a smooth front opening and back neck facing, and clean finished the inside with French seams.
